Parenting: The Hardest Job, But Most Rewarding

Our series at church on parenting has been great. We have also had super discussion during Encore (Wed night growth group) about it. One thing is for sure, we need God's grace to parent our kids. He has given us the tools, the principles from His Word, but applying them in a consistent manner is difficult. We are often too tired or too busy. Often parents are both working and then there is preparing dinner and kids activities and homework.

Sometimes we just don't want to deal with the issues that arise. We hope they will just go away and our kids will just turn out OK. But, that is not the way. Parenting takes resolve and being willing to not always be liked by your kids. No one likes being the bad guy. Of course in the long run taking a stand and setting the limits your kids need will cause them to become the Godly, responsible, and loving adults you want them to be.

Having a loving home without limits is out of balance. Having a lot of limits but no love is also out of balance. We love our kids enough to say no to things. We also say yes to the things that take our time but foster the loving family relationships that each child longs for.

Prayer: Lord, help us make the time needed to spend time with our kids. That we would dare to stand up and make the limits that will help our kids grow up to be the Godly adults they should be. Grace us with your strength to parent our kids. Let them be secure and stable in the love of their parents. Thank you Father for help for the specific issues each parent is facing with their kids today.
